Creede Town Board adopts budget, approves P&Z members

Creede Town Board

CREED—Two Creede residents, Sharon Brown and Dax Hahs, approached Mineral County Commissioners and the Creede Town Board with requests to be involved with Planning & Zoning, both receiving approval at the Creede Town Board meeting on Dec. 18.
Next, the board adopted the 2019 budget and appropriated funds. New City Manager Louis Fineberg says the budget reflects a lot of effort during the last work session.
Raising sewer rates is about as popular as sewage itself, and Fineberg noted that 2018 sewer service revenue was substantially lower than estimated and requires adjustment. But he also added, “we still have options over the next few months.”
The design work is funded for a new sewer system, and an outstanding grant will determine the scope of the project. Although receiving the grant isn’t certain until April 2019, if funding is secured, the work can begin in September (weather and ground conditions permitting).
In other news, Headwaters Alliance Executive Director Guinevere Nelson-Freer is moving to Westcliffe. Nelson-Freer’s leadership left a lasting impact in the waterways in and around Creede.
The next town board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2019 at the Creede Town Hall building.
