High Country Hustle run to debut in Creede

The 2010 High Country Hustle, a Friends of Live Earth Run for Water will take place on April 18, 2010. The race is a fundraiser for the Rio Grande County Headwaters Restoration Project, as well as an opportunity for the community and state to come together to raise awareness about the growing global water crisis, as well as water-related concerns close to home. In Light of the recent passing of local leaders Doug Shriver and Ray Wright,who were so important to the SLV water communities everyone is encouraged to participate in their memory.

Creede Students to Present ‘Trifles'


The story is set in a gloomy farmhouse at the beginning of the 20th century. The Murder mystery follows two housewives as they piece together the “trifling’ details of a crime scene.

Rio Grande Hotel Parlor Commemorates Kolb

The new parlor for the old Rio Grande Hotel  will be dedicated to the memory of architect Mark Kolb. Mr. Kolb was especially fond of Historic restoration and was very enthused about the CRT Housing Project. The Parlor affectionately know as the Bordello will have many of the artifacts which were discovered during construction and during the archeology dig of 1999.

Class to attend Court of Appeals

Seventeen students from Ramona Depriest’s history class will be going to the courts of appeals. They will be preparing arguments and studying two actual cases. Attorneys for the cases will meet with students and get input on how they view the cases.

News Notes

H.C. Amsley, one of the government's meteorological experts was here measuring the flow of water in the Rio Grande River this week.

W.F. Hobson of Grass Valley, California was an arrival here last week.  He is a partner of S.C. Sutton, and they expect to engage in some mining enterprise this coming summer.

Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Jones were visitors in town Tuesday from the government experiment station above Wagon Wheel Gap.

Ed. Cresap, mill boss at the American Fluor Spar mine at the Gap, was a visitor in town Sunday.
