125th anniversary theme of Creede 4th

CREEDE—Creede has had an epic year so far, celebrating an astounding 125 years as a town and now it’s time to do more of what they do best: celebrate. The Fourth of July celebrations are focused around the anniversary this year, which will be the theme for the annual parade. Guests are invited to come join in on the fun as the day starts off with the parade at 10 a.m. and really gets going from there. It’s a day full of fun for the entire family for anyone who ventures to the small mountain town.
In addition to the parade, local and visiting vendors, business owners, residents and the Creede Parks and Recreation department have a day full of fun activities planned for visitors of all ages. There will be children’s activities in Basham Park; local and visiting vendors will be allowed to set up along Main Street, and local businesses will be open throughout the day.
Along with the Main Street festivities, the Days of 92’ arena located behind Basham Park will be host to the annual mining competitions. Competitors from all over the nation will be competing for top spots in mining-based games.
The events include hand mucking, machine Jack Leg drilling and much more. The event is a nationally recognized competition and is taken very seriously by the competitors. The overall winner of the weekend competition will take home a cash prize.
Later in the day, after the parade, get a tasty treat and help a good cause up at the Underground Fire Department located north of town. The department will be hosting their annual fundraising lunch and will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs. The funds go towards purchasing new equipment and general operating costs of the department.
The fourth annual Creede Chute Out will take place out at the fairgrounds south of town at 6:30 p.m. and will be fun for the whole family. Burris and Sons Bucking Bulls came to the area four years ago and proposed a series of rodeo events that took off and brought many people in. The event turned into such a success that the rodeo grounds has begun to change and grow thanks to the additional attention. The night is sure to be full of thrills and excitement for rodeo lovers of all ages.
The Creede Repertory Theatre will be hosting their production of “She Loves Me,” based on the writings of Miklos Laszio. This play fits nicely into the theme of romantic comedy the theatre has become known for. Such plays as last season’s “Private Lives” and many more delve into an era long ago, whisking the crowd back in time and showcasing a romantic setting that will bring tears from laughter. “She Loves Me” looks into the feuding lives of co-workers Georg and Amalia in a 1930s perfume shop where their lives unfold in a surprising twist.
At the end of the day, as the sun sinks below the cliffs around Creede, crowds of people begin to find their spots to watch the fireworks. The show is one of a kind as the fireworks echo off the canyon walls resounding the booms back to the awe struck crowds. Creede is the place to be to have a fun filled day and an epic fireworks show to top off the celebrations!
