WOLF CREEK— The Wolf Creek Ski Resort has been working throughout the summer to open a new lift that was originally going to be named the Meadow Lift.
Due to the recent passing of the resort’s owner’s mother Charity, ski resort officials have opted to rename the lift in honor of Charity Pitcher. “In honor or Davie Pitcher’s mother we decided to change the name of the lift to the Charity Lift,” stated Marketing Director Sarah Stephens.
The new lift is the 10th on the mountain and will allow access to both the Alberta and Elma Lift and open up 55 acres of underutilized land. “Before we decided to add the Charity Lift, expert skiers had to hike a considerable distance to access both the Alberta and Elma lifts. Though we plan to classify the Charity Lift as an intermediate and beginner lift, expert skiers can use it to gain access to the other areas,” explained Stephens.
The new addition is a Doppelmayr high-speed, detachable quad chairlift. Crews were able to start concrete work in the last few weeks on the top and bottom terminals and had the help of a helicopter over the weekend that brought materials up to the lift’s location. “The lift will be on the east side of the Alberta Lift going towards Alberta Lake. It will really open up the area and make more terrain available for skiing,” stated Stephens.
In addition to the new lift, the resort has worked out the kinks in their new point-of sale system that will now be available in restaurants, sports shops and rental shops on the mountain. “We had some things to work on from last year, but we feel it was time well spent and look forward to the accessibility it provides to our skiers,” said Stephens.  
Reports from around the nation are calling for more snowfall this year, in comparison to last, when the entire state saw less than average snow accumulation.
“We are gearing up for a really great season and our hope it to have the new lift debuted by the beginning of the season,” explained Stephens.
The resort has a tentative opening day set for the beginning of November, but not to worry; preseason sales will kick off on Sept. 22 with prices remaining the same as last season. “We have always had a very busy opening to our preseason pass sales and look forward to seeing how it goes this year. The sale will end on September 30,” said Stephens.
Now that the Charity Lift has been rightfully named and is nearing completion, the resort is looking forward to the only component left to get the 2018-19 season underway; bring on the snow!
