Photo Article #597

CREEDE – The Creede Historical Society has thousands of photos in its photo files. Unfortunately, most are not identified in any way. Often we do not know the people, the locations in the pictures, the photographer, or the date that the photo was taken. We need your help!  If you can identify anything in this week’s photo, please call or write:

The school building shown here was built in 1897. It was originally called the Jimtown School and held grades 1 through 12. It was later called the Creede School. In the late 1940s the Mineral County High School was built to house grades 9-12. This building was torn down after the log elementary school was built (just south of this building) in 1962. John LaFont Collection, Creede Historical Society Archives, Catalogue #5544-JLF-86.
