Silver Thread Studio Tour seeks artists

SAN LUIS VALLEY— The Silver Thread Studio Tour is coming up on Aug. 10 and the council is always looking for more artists to participate. They want everyone to  know how many wonderfully talented and creative people there are in South Fork and Creede. Whether a new artist or one with national recognition, this is a chance to shine.
Perhaps you create artwork but don’t consider yourself an artist—So what is art? It’s the human ability to make things. It’s making or doing things that display form, beauty and unusual perception of any form of creative work.
People really like to see how and why you create the art that you make. Of course you should have a variety of work for sale because visitors will shop.
So what kind of artists are we looking for? The answer is any kind. Some examples are painting, jewelry, pottery, glass blowing, stained glass, photography, wood carving, papermaking, sculpture, wind chimes, deer skin, rocks, furniture, ceramics; and fiber such as quilting, weaving, spinning yarn, knitting, felting and various surface design techniques.
You can do this at home, in your studio or in the gallery that exhibits your work. The location must be in South Fork or Creede, or along the way, and you must be either a full or part-time resident in this area.  For information and applications, please call Ed Knight at 658-0182 or Darlene Danko at 873-9847.  The application deadline is June 1. We look forward to hearing from you.
