Nearly 100 people gathered under blustery conditions on Monday, May 30, on Creede’s main street to remember those who have fallen in service to their country. Vietnam veteran Ray Dellenbaugh, Americanism chairman for the Creede Elks Lodge, sponsors of the Memorial Day event, was the keynote speaker and reminded attendees about the sacrifices made by veterans. He also asked the veterans in attendance to stand and be recognized and named the Mineral County natives currently serving in active duty. The Creede Community Choir also performed, including opening with the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’
