Quiller selected for national honor
Stephen Quiller was notified that his painting “Fox & Crow” was selected for the Rosie Maheffey Memorial Award at the American Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition that will be held April 3-28 at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. The presentation will be at the awards banquet, Friday, April 28.
The American Watercolor Society is the oldest Society of its kind in the United States cofounded by Winslow Homer and others in 1866. This year’s exhibition had entries from 28 different countries. Quiller has been selected for numerous awards over the years including the gold and silver medals. He is a Dolphin Fellow of the society and his painting will be one of 40 paintings that will travel the United States this coming year.
Quiller’s painting “Fox & Crow” was inspired by his frequent cross-country ski experiences in the high country above Creede.
