CREEDE—The public is invited to join the Creede Arts Council at the Creede Repertory Theatre, Saturday, May 26 at 4 p.m. to snack on hors d’oeuvres, sip a glass of wine or flavored water, and enjoy all of the marvelous artwork at the opening of the National Small Print Show.
As a part of the Taste of Creede and all of its culinary and artistic delights, the National Small Print Show, a juried art show of more than 100 prints created by artists from across the country and Canada, will open for viewing and purchase.
This year, print artist Sibyl Teague from Poncha Springs, judged the prints. Teague has been a printmaker for more than 15 years, using many diverse techniques including relief, collagraph, monoprint, etching and lithography. Her artwork has been shown in many local, regional and national juried art shows.
The following winners were chosen: first place Claret Cup by Louise Grunewald (Durango, Colo.), second place Play Date by Dan Welden (Sag Harbor, NY) and third place Who Are You by Jude Silva (Buena Vista, Colo). Two honorable mention prints were also chosen to receive awards.
Local businesses and arts patrons who helped to sponsor this special event will each give special recognition award to their favorite print. The NSPS also features prints from past judges. Many of the prints are monoprints (only one was created) so this is a chance for people to purchase a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art. Other prints have multiple prints available allowing many people to purchase a popular print. The prints will be on display and available for purchase at CRT from May 26 – June 24.
