Ladies Aid Society bazaar, rummage sale coming up

...

CREEDE— The Ladies Aid Society (LAS) Bazaar and Rummage Sale is rapidly approaching. Next week is a busy one for LAS members and the Creede community.
On Monday, July 16, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., residents may drop off rummage sale donations at the south door of the town gym. Please make sure all clothing is clean. Furniture donations are very much appreciated. No electronics, computers, encyclopedias, mattresses, large appliances or TVs please.
LAS will also be accepting rummage sale items and baked goods on Tuesday, July 17, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the south door of the town gym. Baked goods for the bazaar will also be accepted on Wednesday, July 18 from 7:30 a.m. on, which is the actual day of the bazaar.
In order for Ladies Aid Society to have another successful year, donations are needed from members, the Creede community and its summer residents. Please plan to help with this important community tradition
The bazaar and rummage sale will be held on Wednesday, July 18 at the town gym. Hours of operation will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The rummage sale, well known as Creede’s biggest sale, will continue on Thursday, July 19 beginning at 8 a.m. and closing at noon. Both the bazaar and rummage sale will be under one roof, just as it has been for the past two years.
Get there early on both days for the best selections. The entrance line starts forming at 7:30 a.m. outside the gym in the parking lot. LAS members will have fresh baked cinnamon rolls and hot coffee available for purchase while you wait.
Featured at the bazaar are the famous Ladies Aid Society chile relleno casseroles. Other homemade baked good items will include jams, jellies, pickles, pickled beets, pies, cakes, cookies, breads, brownies and candies. Ladies Aid Society will also be selling cookbooks, commemorating Creede’s 125th year anniversary, which was last summer. These cookbooks are a wonderful keepsake for every family, both residents and visitors, and make excellent Christmas gifts. The recipes are a tasty collection of locals, with some very special “In Loving Memory” recipes. Also included in the cookbooks are some early pictures of Creede and its residents, furnished by the Historical Society, as well as some inspiring scripture references, quotes and sayings.
The LAS kitchen will be serving up coffee and breakfast treats beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, as well as homemade egg salad and chicken salad, chips, and soft drinks. Yummy homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors will also be sold in the LAS kitchen. The kitchen is located in the foyer of the gym and seating is available for all to enjoy breakfast and lunch.
Come and search through all of the rummage sale items. There is sure to be something for everyone who comes in to browse all the treasures. The rummage sale will include baby items, toys, games, clothing for all ages and sizes, coats, boots, shoes, kitchenware, dishes, glassware, knick-knacks, art, books, sporting goods, tools, Christmas decorations, jewelry, linens, hardware and automotive, items, plants, pet items, fitness equipment, gadgets, and many other miscellaneous items. There will be lots of good furniture to choose from, but get to the sale early to get the first picks of everything.
The Ladies Aid Society prices all rummage sale donations very reasonably so that everyone can come and buy a lot.
LAS will also host a live auction at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, out in the parking lot in front of the gym. Come browse and bid on some “extra special” treasures. If anyone has something to donate to the auction, please contact Lori Dooley at 658-0167.
The Ladies Aid Society Annual Bazaar and Rummage Sale is one of Creede’s most loved summer traditions. It is a huge fundraiser for the community, with all items being donated by LAS members, residents and visitors. One hundred percent of the money that is raised at the sale is put back into the community throughout the year. The Creede Ladies Aid Society was established in 1899.
