Headwaters Alliance welcomes new Development and Engagement Coordinator

CREEDE -  The Headwaters Alliance is proud to introduce its new Development and Engagement Coordinator, Alex Handloff. Alex was born and raised in Routt County, Colorado, and has recently finished a master’s degree in Environmental Management at the University of Colorado. An avid outdoorsman, Alex enjoys hiking, biking, fishing, and rock climbing and for several years worked as an adventure tour guide for French speakers in the western United States and western Canada. He joins Headwaters Alliance as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA), a role predicated on building capacity for organizations working on community development. Alex was immediately enamored by the charm of the town, the natural splendor and the remoteness. When you love a place, you just know it and Alex knew it the minute his silver Toyota RAV-4 cleared the bend past Wagon Wheel Gap. He is thrilled to call Creede home. In order to familiarize himself with our community, Alex will be scheduling meetings with residents and also roaming the town and trails in search of good conversations as safely as possible. Given the pandemic, he will be wearing a mask but underneath he is most certainly smiling and will respect social distancing. He is eager to learn about the history, legacy, and present reality of the area from the community itself.
