FOMCES has great summer of events

MINERAL COUNTY— As this summer draws to a close, the Friends of Mineral County Emergency Services (FOMCES), want to thank everyone who participated in and supported their fundraising events.
All monies raised by this group of citizens goes to purchase equipment and training for the many volunteers, who serve so unselfishly in the mineral County Search & Rescue, Fire Department, and EMS organizations.
Activities sponsored by FOMCES this summer included a golf tournament at the Rio Grande Club in South Fork, a pickleball tournament in Creede and a rifle drawing. The golf tournament drew over 80 participants. The fun everyone had, plus the funds raised from the corporate and community sponsors, hole sponsors and other donations, exceeded expectations. The second annual pickleball tournament was oversubscribed with most participants from Creede and South Fork. Food for both players and the many spectators, was provided by Cottonwood Cove. The rifle drawing tickets were sold by FOMCES committee members along with SAR and EMS personnel. The first rifle drawing was won by Charles Nearburg of Creede.
FOMCES wants to thank everyone for their support and participation in this year’s events. These valuable volunteer organizations provide life-saving services to the entire community.
