CREEDE — The Creede Arts Council, Creede Schools and Quiller Gallery presents the first ever Local Small Print Show. The show will be on display at the Creede School from November 12-15 and at Quiller Gallery during the Chocolate Festival on November 23 and 24.
The Creede Schools elementary and middle school art classes, under the direction of art teacher Alicia Hess have created artwork using various printmaking techniques this fall. Stephen Quiller presented a printmaking educational program in September and workshops in October for high school students and community members.
The Local Small Print Show will feature approximately 100 hand-pulled prints created by all ages of students and community members. The show will demonstrate the use of various printmaking techniques including: intaglio (etching,) monotype, monoprint, relief, linocut and collagraphy.
While the Creede Arts Council created its pioneering National Small Print Show (NSPS) for professional artists 19 years ago, this is the first time that CAC has worked with local artists and teachers to present a show celebrating our local artistic talent. The show will use the same displays that CAC uses for the annual NSPS.
This is part of the NSPS Educational Program and is supported in part by a grant from the Virginia Christensen Fund and donations from our NSPS Sponsors and Quiller Gallery.
