CRT names new executive director

CREEDE— Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces that the board of trustees has hired John DiAntonio as CRT’s next executive director. As ED, DiAntonio will lead the CRT staff and steward the organizational mission and strategy, financial sustainability, operations, capital improvements, and capacity building initiatives designed to increase the theatre’s impact on its local, regional, and national constituency.
A graduate of the National Theatre Conservatory MFA Program in Denver, DiAntonio began his career at CRT in 2011 as an actor and playwright. He assumed the position of associate artistic director in 2014 and under his leadership, CRT’s Headwaters New Play Program and yearly festival have continued to blossom since its creation in 2012. CRT has supported and produced 27 world premieres since 2007, 19 of which sprang from CRT’s Education Department.
In addition to expanding the New Play Festival, DiAntonio has written several original plays for CRT including Harry the Great and Kind of Red. He has also written several shows for the Young Audience Outreach Tour (YAOT) program, including Bodyguard! Protector of the Anatomy and Reading! And Other Superpowers.
Artistic Director Jessica Jackson comments, “Working with John has always been inspiring and a ton of fun. His passion, work-ethic, and leadership have been much admired within the CRT Company for years.”
DiAntonio writes, “I am honored and overwhelmed by the support and encouragement you’ve given over my seven years at CRT and especially these last few weeks. I am excited and humbled to take on the executive director position. I’m inspired every day by you, our passionate staff and incredible board. I know there are mountains to climb and great leaps to take and I look forward to continuing CRT’s tremendous legacy built over 52 years.”
