CRT’s 54th season will open on May 31 with “Peter and the Starcatcher,” a play by Rick Elice that shares the story of how Peter Pan became Peter Pan. This G-rated play will be performed in rotation through Aug. 24. This family-friendly musical uses the magic of theatre to create its stunning world, as 12 actors portray over 100 characters. For those who loved 2018’s “The Wizard of Oz,” batten down the hatches and head up to the poop deck to experience two new friends on their quest to save the world, and witness one of literature’s most beloved characters come to life.
CRT will perform “Ripcord” by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rated PG) June 14 – Aug. 8. Enjoy Christy Brandt and Annie Butler in this uproarious and exhilarating “odd couple” comedy.
The classical outrageous musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors” by Howard Ashman with music by Alan Menken (Rated PG-13) will be performed June 28 – Aug. 25. Since its Off-Broadway debut in 1982, Little Shop quickly became one of the most popular shows in the world. Don’t miss this deliciously outrageous sci-fi hit musical.
“Pride and Prejudice” by Kate Hamill based on the novel by Jane Austen (Rated PG) follows from July 26 – Sept. 14. With the heart of this masterful love story still very much intact, Kate Hamill’s farcical take on this time-honored staple of English literature has never been more captivating.
“Hazardous Materials” by Beth Kander (Rated R) was a highlight of 2018’s Headwaters New Play Festival. In 2015, two reluctant coworkers sift through the belongings of an elderly and mysterious Jane Doe. Each pair discovers that in order to connect they must be willing to sort through, and learn from, the past. This play will be performed from Aug. 16 – Sept. 13.
Also returning this season will be The KID Show, written and directed this season by Diana Burbano, and improv comedy at its best in Boomtown Season 13.
