Creede Youth Group thankful for support

...

CREEDE— The Creede Youth Group, under the leadership of director Rebecca Simon, has received amazing community support.
Simon stated, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone
who has supported us with time and donations. Without the generous support of the community it would not have been possible to do all of the things we do. We are so fortunate and blessed to live in such a caring and compassionate community that loves our youth.”
The group was able to enjoy their annual Hooper pool trip. They also hosted the first three-day local Christian youth camp called Camp Creed in July with 24 participants and five volunteers, including a pastor from Texas, Ken Hicks. The group also took in a weekend trip to Denver to Elitch Gardens (22 participants and 11 volunteers) and a visit to the Rocky Mountain Calvary Church in Colorado Springs, which was huge compared to Creede churches.
The Creede Elks Lodge #506 donated a generous gift of $2,500 received through their Promise Grant from the Elk’s National Foundation and member Luke Crenshaw volunteered his time. Freemon’s Ranch provided catfish and hush puppies for the group’s fundraiser earlier this year. Tomkins Hardware was also generous to donate $750 through their matching program. San Juan Sports helped with slack line for camp and Mineral County let the group use the boy scout cabin during Camp Creed. The Creede School District helped with transportation to Denver for the Elitch Gardens Trip. A special thank you goes to the Creede Community Church and the Creede Baptist Church; their members have always been very supportive with their time and resources.
“Please forgive me if I didn’t list you specifically. The list would be endless due to all the amazing support we have had! Thank you again, Creede!” commented Simon.
Creede Youth Group meets every Wednesday at the Creede Baptist Church for potluck at 6 p.m. and Bible Study and games until 8 p.m. (adult Bible study available too). Youth of all ages are always welcome. Please join us; with questions, call Simon at 719-658-0247.
