VCTF recipients to be chosen in November

Applicants are being reviewed for the second 2010 Virginia Christensen Trust Fund. Chistensen named Creede as a beneficiary with the principal to be used for park and recreation facilities that would commemorate the good times that her and her husband Emil W. Christensen, enjoyed while working in and around the Mine and power house.

The colors of fall will soon turn to the soft whites of winter. Take time to enjoy it before the snow comes.

CRT open house quite a delight

The sights and sounds friendly voices and people greeted you as you arrived in the rehearsal room where wine and food were served. A  Great success: Both the party and the work done.

October town board meeting discusses much business

Discovery Channel is looking at Creede as a possible site for a movie on small town America, a Creede Chronicle. If chosen out of the four town being looked over, the production company would be here about three months  and shoot 13 episodes. More will will be known at the next meeting. 

Creede airport ribbon cutting dedication

In a presentation by Zeke Ward for the dedication of Creede's airport , Ward Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee introduced four ladies who were instrumental in the history of the airport to cut the ribbon. These ladies were Bertie Jane Hosselkus Bea McClure, Bea Collerette and Nell Wiley. All of these ladies had their part in the efforts that got the airport paved for the first time since 1969. Over $160,000 in private funds were raised to make this all possible. One of the first contributors was Charles Nearburg. After the ceremonies everyone was invited to a catered lunch made by Liz Curry and her mother Yvonne Hosselkus. BBQ Beef was served and an array of delectable desserts.

The Potato Show at Center

November 11th, 12th and 13th, the First Annual San Luis Valley Potato Show and the Fourth Annual Saguache County Farm Bureau meeting will be held at Center. The premiums offered at the Western Potato Show in Denver to encourage growing better potatoes will be duplicated at the valley show. Telling the world of the quality of the potatoes, growing more of them and increasing the quality the San Luis Valley grows.

Fish Commissioner Parvin Inspection

Mr. Leary and others belonging to the Sportsman's Association are taking steps with State Game and Fish Commissioner Parvin of Denver to have the retaining ponds at Deep Creek Bridge fixed up so that young trout may be planted there in the spring.

Good Time Old Ball Tonight

A big time is anticipated at the candidates' ball at the Gap tonight.  The weather is expecting to clear and will assure a big crowd and the event to be accompanied by Swank's Orchestra furnishing the music.
