Chamber holds membership meeting

CREEDE—The Creede/Mineral County Chamber held its membership meeting on Jan. 16.
A new board was nominated and consists of Jenna Jernigan, Shelly Parham, Steve Baxter, Vicki Kulick, Christy Midget, Kerry Rice and Kim Kosciusko.
Some new and exciting marketing strategies were discussed. The chamber will be increasing its presence in Colorado Life Magazine, advertising in True West and working with SLVoices to record podcasts around the chamber’s featured events. The chamber will also continue to work with local partners like KSLV, Valley Publishing and the Valley Courier.
Beginning in March, the chamber will be hosting some after-hour business classes. These classes will be free to any member in good standing and $15 for non-members. The first class will cover using Facebook to make money for your business. The series will continue in April with a class about TripAdvisor and listing your business on Colorado.com. The SLV Small Business Development Center will have a class here on May 1 about Cyber Security. Del Norte Bank has graciously offered to help with providing snacks. Stay tuned for information regarding the dates and times.
An update to membership benefits was voted on as well. Effective Feb. 1, each member will receive $15 worth of free printing per month. After which, each black and white copy will be a penny and each color copy will be a dime. A monthly bill will be emailed to members for their appropriate printing usage. Non-members will be charged 20 cents per black and white copy and a dollar per color copy. Additionally, the use of the Chamber’s Bulk Mail Permit will be 10 percent of the current USPS Annual Permit Application Fee. Also effective Feb. 1, members will be charged $23 to use the chamber’s Bulk Mail Permit and non-members will be charged a higher fee.
The 2019 featured events have been updated on creede.com and added to Colorado.com. Cabin Fever Daze is on for this year and will be held Feb. 15-18.
