CREEDE— According to a report by Colorado State Patrol Trooper William Houde, a construction employee working on Highway 149 between mile markers 40 and 41 north of Creede was injured Tuesday, Aug. 11 after being run over by a vehicle.
“There were two construction workers walking along the side of the road while a third worker was backing a truck up. One individual walking was able to get out of the way, while the other worker who was on foot, was momentarily pinned under the vehicle [driven by the third worker]. Neither the person operating the truck nor the individual who was injured saw each other,” stated Houde.
Houde continued, stating that the vehicle was traveling about five miles per hour when the incident occurred. “The injured party was pinned under the vehicle for a very short period of time while the vehicle was moved. As a precaution, an ambulance was called, he was prepped and flown by Flight for Life to Mercy Hospital in Durango, Colo.”
As of 2 p.m. the extent of the injuries the individual sustained was unknown. The driver of the vehicle was cited with a careless driving ticket. Further details will be reported once investigation into the incident is completed.
